Gathering at Spageddies (Marina Sq) on 31 Aug 07

This was technically our second gathering. The first was visiting Mae in the hospital after she gave birth.

Sorry for taking a full 24 hours to file this report. We had a very successful and enjoyable outing. I reached Spageddies at around 7.25pm. The first to arrive was Quansheng. The rest came progressively. Nengjie was the last to come after making sure his children were tucked in to bed. Like I said, he's the super dad.

Junping also qualifies as super dad. He is staying in Woodlands now but makes a daily commute to Tampines to send his three-month-old baby to the nanny's place. He will soon be moving to Punggol soon and looks forward to PUB's plan to beautify the waterways in that area which will invariably add value to his flat. He is working as an engineer at TECH semiconductor.

Lijun is working in the British Petroleum. Although BP no longer has kiosks in Singapore, but Singapore is one of the three global petrochemical hubs so BP still has a presence here. Lijun is dealing with tax matters and frequently travels overseas for business and in business class.

Quansheng is working as a procurement engineer for Hewlett Packard. He travels overseas frequently as well, but in cattle class to places like China :p Quansheng drives a Skoda Octavia (it is a Czech car) because it has a volumous boot to store his golf bag. Quansheng has a girlfriend of 6 years.

Meiyan works in A*Star as a senior officer. As you all know, A*Star's work is rather hush-hush so we did not get to know much about her work. To make up for the lack of info, Meiyan foot the bill for dinner and we all forgot to pay her. But that's another story for another day.

Peiqin now drives the classy Nissan Sylphy which she shares with her hubby and kid. She works in the People's Association and her work ensures that Singaporeans are prepared for emergencies.

Nengjie (Lijun reminded us tha Mr Albert used to call him Ninja) works in the corporate communications dept of the Ministry of Home Affairs. He deals mainly with the media, very demanding job, can see it...haha. Nengjie paid for our drinks (we adjourned to Marina Mandarin). Did we pay him back? I couldn't remember as I was drunk after drinking a Cool Green Latte.

Jianhui could not join us as he was worn out after his Teacher's Day celebration. That shows you how busy teachers are nowadays. He did offer some useful information though. His A-level results were A-B-B (darn).

Since we are on A-levels, Lijun got A-A-B, Meiyan and Junping also A-B-C. I forgot Peiqin's. As for the rest, lets just say we were hanging our heads in shame...haha. But we all made good ultimately, which is what counts, I suppose.

Lingzhi could not take time off work so could not join us.

The seven of us agreed to meet again in Oct in celebration of my 32nd birthday (sigh). We will discuss in more detail towards that day. So lets keep in touch and try to see if we can locate more of our classmates.
